Split system installation in Healesville
Healesville sits in the Yarra Valley basin between Mount Riddell and the Great Divide, and the winter frost is the single most important spec consideration on every install we do out there. The basin traps cold air overnight from May through September and we regularly see -1 to -3 degree overnight lows in Chum Creek Road, Don Road and Beenak Road addresses - which is well below the operating envelope of most entry-level reverse-cycle units. We spec cold-climate rated Mitsubishi Electric or Fujitsu units for every Healesville job as standard, with a factory base-tray heater on the outdoor unit to prevent condensate freezing at the drain outlet. Ground-pad installations are the default because acreage properties have plenty of space and no OC restrictions - the outdoor unit sits on a 600mm x 400mm concrete pad on the sheltered south or east side of the house, with a rain shroud and a snow-load bracket even though snow is rare. The old weatherboard cottages along Nicholson Street and River Street have single-skin timber walls with no cavity insulation and the drilled through-wall becomes a straightforward job - no cavity to navigate, but we always seal both sides of the penetration with expanding foam and a colour-matched cover plate because rats and possums will use the pipe entry as a house-entry point otherwise.

Why Healesville homeowners choose Bellair
The BAL (Bushfire Attack Level) rating drives about 30% of the Healesville quote conversation - anything backing onto Toolangi State Forest or in the Chum Creek and Don Valley corridors carries a BAL rating of 19, 29 or 40, and that changes what compressor housing is compliant. We spec ember-resistant condenser covers and stainless mesh over the intake grilles on any BAL-29 or higher property, and route pipe covers in metal rather than PVC because PVC becomes a fuel load in a fire event. The drive from Botanic Ridge to Healesville is 78 kilometres and 90 minutes each way, which means every Healesville quote includes a call-out consideration - we run Healesville job days as two-installs-per-day back-to-back rather than single jobs, and we schedule accordingly. Healesville Sanctuary and the wine strip pull weekend tourist traffic on Maroondah Highway and we book Healesville installs for weekdays only. The renovated country farmhouses and eco-builds along Don Road and Myers Creek Road are increasingly multi-head systems across four or five rooms in a single-storey plan with a single 12 to 14kW outdoor unit - the pipe runs can be 15 to 20 metres from the compressor to the furthest head, which we quote per metre above the standard 5-metre kit before we start.
What's included in your Healesville install
Included in the Healesville quote: the cold-climate rated split system in your chosen size and brand, base-tray heater on the outdoor unit as standard, all copper pipework and electrical cabling, ground-pad or wall-bracket install as suits the site, ember-resistant compressor housing and stainless intake mesh for BAL-29 or higher addresses (quoted separately as a line item), drain to the nearest legal point, controller pairing and commissioning on both cooling and heating cycles, cleanup and removal of packaging, full manufacturer warranty and our own 7-year workmanship guarantee. Not included: Yarra Ranges Shire planning permits, engineering reports for multi-head systems, BAL certification (issued by an independent bushfire consultant), electrical switchboard upgrades on older rural properties, penetrations through structural steel or concrete, tree-clearance permits, and pipe runs longer than the standard 5-metre kit which are quoted per additional metre before we start work.

Matt and his team are exceptional. I sent a message Saturday morning, I received a text message and a phone call, and a site visit by 11am. I am not use to such high customer service. Matt tried to have my install done asap as we had no heating. Install was also exceptional, as his pricing and quality of install and removal of old unit is beyond expectations. Was not an easy job but his quote was so honest and fair. I can hardly notice the outside cabling (first photo). He was also so polite, professional and caring. Thank you Matt and team. Will contact shortly for further split systems install. I will only contact your company in the future. Also, your system recommendation has been amazing. Many, many thanks for everything.

Communication with Matt was seamless and transparent. He came to inspect my place prior for a quick chat and to issue an estimated quote not long after. We eventually had a date fixed for two units to be installed. One required replacement of the previous old unit (included removal from property), and the second required a new hole to be drilled for installation. Matt and his team took roughly 3.5-4h. They were immaculate with their work! They left my place decently clean. I would have to say that this was the best customer service that I have had. Everything was discussed clearly, and my questions were addressed appropriately by Matt. I would highly recommended them if you are still considering! Thank you very much, Matt and your boys!

Matt did an excellent job installing our new Mitsubishi Electric heating and cooling system. He was professional, punctual, and took the time to explain everything clearly. The installation was completed to a high standard, and the work area was left clean and tidy. We're very happy with the result and appreciate the added peace of mind from the 5-year Mitsubishi Electric manufacturer warranty and 7-year Bellair workmanship warranty. Highly recommend Matt and the Bellair team.
