Mentone was built as a seaside resort in the 1880s, and you can still read it in the housing — grand Edwardian and Federation homes with wide verandahs, turned timber and ornate frontages, clustered on the streets between the station, Mentone Grammar and the beach. Those homes are the interesting work here. Big rooms, high ceilings, decorative plaster and verandahs you don't want a pipe run spoiling, so we plan discreet routing — up a side elevation, through subfloor, kept well off the street face. Sizing has to account for the ceiling height and the volume, not just the floor plan, or the head will struggle. Mentone also has a solid layer of interwar and post-war brick further back from the water, plus contemporary rebuilds, and those are more conventional jobs. Being a beachside suburb, salt matters on the streets nearer Mentone Beach, so outdoor units get sited and specced for the coastal air. The older grand homes often have original switchboards that need upgrading before they'll safely carry a reverse-cycle load — we check that early. Established gardens and tight side access on some of these blocks mean we plan how we're getting gear in before the day. It's a suburb that rewards taking your time, and on the grand old frontages the finish is the whole job.

What's included in your Mentone install
A Mentone install covers supply of your chosen unit, fitting to AS/NZS 3000, neat back-to-back or routed pipework, condensate drainage, electrical connection, old unit removal and recycling, commissioning and clean-up. On the grand resort-era homes here we allow extra time to route pipework discreetly around verandahs and ornate frontages and to size for the high ceilings. Near the beach we keep the outdoor unit off the worst salt exposure. It's all in the fixed price agreed up front, with any switchboard upgrade flagged before you commit.
