Upwey is the biggest of the foothill townships - Main Street runs a solid kilometre of cafes, second-hand shops, the post office, the hardware, and Upwey Station on the Belgrave line. Above and around the strip, residential Upwey climbs steeply on both sides: north into Ferny Creek and Sassafras, south toward Tecoma and Ferntree Gully. The two sides behave very differently for install work. North of Burwood Highway, we're on the mountain proper - cool-air drainage, damp, big deciduous trees, older weatherboard homes that need corner posts and stump repair before we can bracket a condenser off a wall. South of Burwood Highway, we're on the flatter, drier foothill benches with post-war brick veneer and easier line-set runs. We size head units differently on each side: north-side Upwey needs more heating capacity for the same floor area because winter minimums sit 2 to 3 degrees lower than the south side and the cool-air pooling in the gullies means overnight starts kick in earlier. A 6kW head on the south side is often a 7.1kW on the north side for the same living room. Main Street itself has three-phase power available at most commercial premises - we've done cassette and cassette-plus-wall-mount fit-outs for a couple of the Main Street cafes running off the existing SP AusNet three-phase mains without any capacity upgrade application.

An Upwey install includes supply of your chosen unit, fitting to AS/NZS 3000, neat back-to-back or routed pipework, condensate drainage, electrical connection, old unit removal and recycling, commissioning and clean-up. Near the township it's a clean fit sized for the cool climate; on the higher blocks we allow for longer runs, place plant to the bushfire rating, and keep the outdoor unit clear of leaf litter. It's all in the fixed price agreed up front, with any switchboard upgrade flagged before you commit.
